Vol. 162 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Replacement of Galway School.

asked the Minister for Education when he proposes to replace the school at Moyrus, Carna, County Galway.

A grant has been sanctioned by my Department towards the cost of the erection of a new school to replace the existing national school at Moyrus, County Galway, and it is a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works to make the necessary arrangements for the invitation of tenders.

Because of the very heavy programme of work in connection with the building, enlargement and improvement of national schools which the commissioners have on hands, it will inevitably be some time yet before the position is reached where tenders for the building of the new school can be invited. I regret that I am unable to say when work on the erection of the new school will be started, but I can assure the Deputy that the case will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
