Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Potash Cargo.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that a boat named Eeziena Henderika arrived at Galway Harbour on 16th June, 1957, with a cargo of 550 tons of potash for Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teoranta, which has been delivered to the Tuam sugar factory, and if he will state (a) where the cargo was loaded, (b) the country of origin, and (c) the price per ton of the potash delivered at Tuam.

The information requested by the Deputy, relating as it does to a transaction by an individual trader, is treated as confidential and cannot be disclosed.

Surely the Parliamentary Secretary can tell me the country of origin of the cargo?

Potash is not dutiable, neither is there any form of control, other than currency control, on its importation from any source.

Surely the Parliamentary Secretary realises as well as I do that this stuff has come from behind the Iron Curtain into Galway in the name of a man who——
