Vol. 163 No. 5

Committee on Finance. - Vote 18—Secret Service.

I move:—

That a sum not exceeding £4,700 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1958, for Secret Service.

I hope the Minister will take some steps to curb or control the activities in this country of certain supposed religious bodies who, by their activities——

Surely that would not arise on the Vote for the Secret Service?

If the Minister takes his time he will see how it does arise under this heading. Their activities at the moment are under a cloak and I think it is up to this office to keep a watch on them. We have seen homes wrecked by the activities of these bodies.

Vote put and agreed to.
