Vol. 164 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Harbour Scheme.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has yet sanctioned a tender for the Galway Harbour scheme, and, if not, whether he will do so before the end of November, 1957.

Examination of the tender documents submitted by the Galway Harbour Commissioners revealed the need for further information which has now been obtained from the harbour commissioners and is under examination by my technical advisers. I hope to receive their report at an early date.

Is the Minister mixing up the answer with the answer which he gave me last June? It is the same.

I do not think so.

The answer I gave in June last was that information was being sought from the harbour commissioners in relation to these tender documents. The tender documents were received. They have been examined. It is quite clear that further information must be obtained, in the interests of the harbour commissioners, before the matter can finally be disposed of.

Arising out of another reply which the Minister gave to another question, when I asked him "How soon?", he replied that I would be surprised. I am.

The Deputy does not know a great deal about it.

I do. I will keep the Minister informed.

The Deputy should perhaps get some information in Galway.

He cannot get it in Dáil Éireann to-day, in any case.

He cannot get it with civility in Dáil Éireann.
