Vol. 164 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Relief Work.

asked the Minister for Finance whether relief work will be provided during the Christmas period to prevent destitution and hunger amongst a number of families in the Dublin County constituency area.

Grants are not made from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote for Christmas relief works as such. A sum of £2,300 has, however, been allocated towards the cost of employment schemes to be carried out in the area referred to during the winter months. This is the full proportionate amount available in relation to the number of unemployed in the area having regard to the position in the country as a whole. It compares with an allocation of £1,300 for the same area last year.
