NOTES
1. Column 1 shows the total number of mechanically propelled vehicles under current licence in the area of each county council on 10th August, 1957, the date on which the last annual census of vehicles was taken.
2. Column 2 shows the total number of driving licences current in the area of each county council on 10th August, 1957, see note 1 above.
3. Column 3 shows the total mileage of public roads in the area of each county council (including main roads, county roads and urban roads) on 31/3/57.
4. Column 4 shows the total grants from the Road Fund allocated to each county council for the year 1957-58.
5. In columns 1, 2 and 3, but not in Column 4, the figures for Louth include those for the Borough of Drogheda and the Urban District of Dundalk and the figures for Dublin include those for the Borough of Dún Laoghaire. The total Road Fund grants made available in 1957. 58 to the Corporation of Dún Laoghaire and Drogheda and the U.D.C. of Dundalk were, respectively, £25,000, £2,076 and £2,809.
