Vol. 171 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Subsidy on Butter Exports.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the total amount paid by way of subsidy on exports of butter for the ten months ended 31st October, 1958.

Records of creamery butter subsidy payments are not kept in respect of calendar years but are available for financial years. Subsidy amounting to £3,063,441 was payable in respect of butter exported during the financial year 1957-58 and it is estimated that the subsidy on exports from the 1st April, 1958 to the 31st October, 1958 will amount to about £1,648,300.

In that connection, would the Minister say what part of that amount will be defrayed by the amount of the levy?

The levy will be added to that.

That is the net charge on the Exchequer?
