Vol. 171 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Monsell (Limerick) Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands (a) if he will state the present position of any scheme on hands or contemplated for the division of the balance of lands comprising the Monsell estate, Tervoe, County Limerick; (b) whether it is contemplated disposing of the balance of these lands to Cement Ltd. as happened on a previous occasion; and (c) whether the Land Commission are satisfied that the acquisition of these lands is necessary for the normal operations of the industry in question or whether they will be used for farming activities.

The balance of this estate has not yet been allocated by the Land Commission and it is not feasible, therefore, to indicate how the lands will be disposed of. The claims of all eligible local applicants will be fully considered.

The lands previously transferred to Cement, Limited were given by way of equivalent exchange for other lands, and any further transfers of land will be, as far as is practicable, on the same basis.
