asked the Minister for Lands (a) whether any change has taken place in regard to the acquisition proceedings which he enumerated on 30th October, 1957, in regard to land acquisitions in Limerick; (b) whether in regard to lands in the hands of the Land Commission in County Limerick, mentioned on that date, and since, with the exception of the Donovan, Gleeson and Mullins estates, any further disposal of lands has occurred or is immediately imminent; and (c) how many offers of land or proceedings to acquire it were initiated in County Limerick in the past 12 months, and if he will state the location of such lands, and the present state of the proceedings.

As regards (a), the reply is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.
As regards (b), apart from the Donovan, Gleeson and Mullins estates, an area of 466 acres was allotted amongst 33 allottees since 30th October, 1957. The estates involved were Watson, Hartigan, Barrett and Cement, Limited together with other lands surrendered earlier this year in connection with local exchanges.
As regards (c), I would remind the Deputy that, with a view to clearing off arrears of inspection and expediting the disposal of lands on hands, the investigation of new compulsory acquisition cases was temporarily suspended in 1957 and resumed as the arrears were dealt with. No lands were voluntarily offered to the Land Commission in County Limerick during the past 12 months. During that period compulsory proceedings were instituted for acquisition of one estate comprising about 194 acres adjacent to Croom. This case has reached the price stage.
