Vol. 171 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kilmallock Social Welfare Office: Appointment of Manager.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if the position of branch manager of his Department's Office at Kilmallock, County Limerick, has been filled, and, if so, when the appointment was made; and if he will state (a) the date on which notification was sent to the successful applicant, (b) his name, address and age, and (c) the grounds on which he secured the post.

The position of acting branch manager of the Branch Employment Office, Kilmallock, has been filled. The successful applicant was notified by post on the 20th November, 1958, and took up duty on 29th November, 1958. She is Miss Cecilia O'Kelly of Abbeyfarm, Kilmallock, County Limerick.

Miss O'Kelly was appointed following the advertising of the vacancy and the holding of an interview board. She secured the post on the grounds that she was the most suitable of the applicants interviewed.

What were the necessary qualifications?

In reply to the Deputy's Supplementary question, I should like to state that Miss O'Kelly had a good primary and secondary education. She was employed in the office since 1934 and acted as the manager's deputy for a considerable period and, during the long illness before the manager's death, she acted as branch manager.
