Vol. 171 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payments to Claddagh Fishermen.

64.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the total amount paid to Claddagh fishermen for herring caught during the past three months; and the amount which such herring is expected to realise.

I am informed that during the past three months An Bord Iascaigh Mhara purchased herring from Claddagh fishermen in the period 23rd October to 22nd November. The bulk of that herring has been quick frozen and is held in cold store. The total amount paid for it was £114 and the amount which it will realise will depend on market conditions at the time of sale.
