Written Answers. - Slaughter of Calves.

33.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the number of calves slaughtered in each year from 1931 to 1957, inclusive.

The data available relating to the annual slaughterings of calves in the period 1934-1957 are given in the following statements. For the years 1931-1933 no estimates are available. For the financial years 1934-1935 to 1937-1938 particulars are given of the numbers of calf skins on which an export bounty was paid. For the years ending 31st May, 1939-31st May, 1945, and for the calendar years 1945-1957 the figures in the statement relate to the estimated numbers of calves slaughtered as determined for the compilation of agricultural output. These estimates are approximate.
