Vol. 175 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation for Former Dundalk Employees of G.N.R.

6.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether ex-employees of the Great Northern Railway Works, Dundalk, who take up employment elsewhere, will be entitled to compensatory sums if they are not recalled to employment by Dundalk Engineering Works; what is the expected date of the announcement of the names of those who will be entitled to compensatory lump sums for loss of employment with Dundalk Engineering Works; and when the development work in the latter works will be completed.

The eligibility for severance pay of a redundant worker of the Dundalk Engineering Works will not be affected by his acceptance of employment elsewhere. I am not in a position to give the other information sought by the Deputy.
