Vol. 178 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Embankments.

23.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that a number of breaches has occurred in the embankments at Callinafercy, County Kerry, as a result of the recent storms; and if he will arrange for a machine to be sent to repair the breaches pending the full implementation of the Maine Drainage Scheme.

24.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that as a result of the recent storms and high tides several breaches were made on the old embankments of the river Maine; and what steps are being taken in co-operation with the Office of Public Works, to ensure the expeditious repair of the breaches made.

I propose, with the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 23 and 24 together.

The Land Commission, in consultation with the Commissioners of Public Works, are arranging for the execution of repairs to embankments at Callinafercy West, Roscullen and Shanakeal on the estuary of the River Maine pending incorporation of the works in the River Maine Catchment Drainage Scheme. The repairs will be expedited as much as possible.
