Vol. 181 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payments to Louth Wheat Growers.

3.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that some wheat growers in County Louth have not yet received upward adjustment prices for sound wheat which was sold for feeding purposes to compounders and millers at very low prices prior to the fixing of the minimum floor price of 57/9d. per barrel on 11th September, 1958; and, if so, if he will take steps to have these balances of payments made without delay.

The position of a small number of wheat growers, mainly in County Louth, who have not yet received price adjustments as mentioned by the Deputy has already been brought to my notice. Because of certain legal difficulties the normal procedure for the making of price adjustments could not be followed in these cases but I hope to be able to resolve these difficulties in the near future.
