Vol. 184 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killester (Dublin) Parking Facilities.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that public car parking facilities at Killester Church are completely inadequate and are causing great confusion and congestion in the area; and what action he proposes to take in the matter.

Presumably the Deputy's question is related to parking difficulties during the later Masses on Sundays. I understand that the Church authorities have provided off-street parking facilities for a number of cars on a site opposite the Church and that a Garda is on duty on these occasions to regulate and assist the flow of traffic.

I agree with all that the Minister says in his reply but I would add that the car park that has been created to facilitate Church parking has an entrance of about 24 feet to cope with about 1,500 cars. There is great congestion at the entrance to the car park. I suggest that the local authority should remove the fencing they have erected around it.
