Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Capital Works: Advances to Cork Local Authorities.

andMr. Healy asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of the latest financial year for which figures are available the total amount advanced by him on capital account to local authorities in Cork City and County, and the total amount granted by him for works of a capital nature, including minor road works, improvement schemes, etc.

Advances by way of loans from the Loans Fund to local authorities in Cork city and county totalled £1,045,179 in the financial year 1959/60 and capital grants to them from the National Development Fund in the same year amounted to £63,772. Capital grants paid to them by other Miniters from the Exchequer amounted to £5,559.

Grants totalling £101,899 were issued from the Votes for Local Government and Roinn na Gaeltachta and the Vote for Employment and Emergency Schemes for road and other improvement works in the Cork area but this expenditure was not classified as capital for Budgetary purposes.
