Vol. 189 No. 3

Juries Bill, 1960—From The Seanad.

The Dáil went into Committee to consider an amendment from the Seanad.

I move that the Committee agree with the Seanad in the following amendment:—

SECTION 5.

1. In line 4, "deemed to be" inserted before "a court".

Could the Minister say when that amendment was circulated?

I think it was yesterday; it has been in the hands of Deputies for a couple of days. It is a simple amendment.

Perhaps the Clerk would give us a copy of it.

It is merely an addition of the words "deemed to be". It is purely a drafting amendment.

The Minister is aware that the Taoiseach has a strong sentiment against disposing of an amendment from the Seanad on the day on which it is brought in but if the Minister wishes to deal with it, we would be prepared to disregard the Taoiseach's wish.

I would be prepared to accept your agreement, anyway.

Question put and agreed to.
Amendment reported and agreed to.
Ordered: That a message be sent to the Seanad accordingly.
