Vol. 192 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Remission of Driving Disqualification.

195.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in respect of the remission by him on 30th October last of a disqualification for driving imposed on 20th February, 1961 the conviction in respect of which the disqualification was originally imposed by the Court.

196.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice in exercise of what authority did he remit on 30th October last a disqualification for driving imposed on a person on 20th February, 1961.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to answer Questions Nos. 195 and 196 together.

The conviction in question was for driving in a manner dangerous to the public contrary to Section 51 of the Road Traffic Act, 1933.

The disqualification for holding a driving licence was remitted by me in pursuance of the provisions of Section 23 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1951, which apply to ancillary disqualifications imposed under the Act of 1933.
