Vol. 194 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport to County Dublin Hospital.

13.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that relatives of inmates at Saint Ita's Hospital, Portrane, County Dublin, are caused great distress and inconvenience, particularly during the summer months, by reason of the fact that they find difficulty in obtaining suitable public transport from Dublin to the hospital; and if, in the special circumstances, he will consider the question of providing some form of State transport for these people, most of whom are in necessitous circumstances.

I am not aware that visitors to St. Ita's Hospital, Portrane, have difficulty in obtaining transport. I have received no complaints in the matter. If, however, the Deputy is aware of such difficulty, I would suggest that he should make representations to C.I.E. which provides the public transport for the area or ask the health authority to do so. I have no power to arrange for the provision of State transport.
