Vol. 197 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Tipperary Road Workers.

54.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of road workers at present employed in North Tipperary; and whether an extension of this number by way of increased work is contemplated within the coming twelve months.

The number of men employed on road works in Tipperary North Riding at 30th September, 1962, the latest date for which a figure is available, was 354. The volume of road works to be undertaken in 1963-64 will depend mainly on the amount of the council's rates provision for roads and the level of the Road Fund allocations. I am not in a position to make any statement about the 1963-64 grants at this stage.
