asked the Minister for Local Government if he will direct that the case of Michael McGuirk, a road ganger employed by Dublin County Council, shall be examined sympathetically by his Department with a view to ensuring that a period of two and a half years, during which Mr. McGuirk was absent from work through illness caused by an accident, shall be counted as pensionable service when he eventually retires from his employment.

The making of a superannuation award is a matter for the local authority concerned and is one in which I have no function except where a statutory appeal is made to me by a person aggrieved by the amount of an award made by a local authority.
