Vol. 198 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Performing Rights Society Limited.

52.

asked the Minister for Justice if it is part of the duties of the Garda Síochána to supply to the Performing Rights Society Limited details of the number of dances held in dance halls within the State with a view to assisting the said Society to take civil proceedings for infringement of copyright; and if he will give particulars of the instructions, if any, issued to the Garda Síochána in this regard.

The Garda have no such duty and, accordingly, have no instructions in the matter.

Would the Minister issue instructions that such assistance should not be given to the Performing Rights Society by the Garda.

The Garda do not give such assistance. It is not their function.

I shall supply the Minister with the name of the person who says they do.

"Dúirt bean liom go ndúirt bean léi."

The Minister might investigate it.
