Vol. 200 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Otto Skorzeny.

42.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Justice whether Mr. Otto Skorzeny has sought to obtain Irish citizenship papers.

Under the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1956, the person concerned would be eligible to be considered for naturalisation only if he had resided in the State for five years. Since he is not residing here at all, and never has done so, the question of his naturalisation does not arise.

In the circumstances that this man has refused to answer an Austrian Government warrant on charges of serious crimes against humanity in the Nazi internment camps, would the Minister say whether he would be permitted into this country?

I deal with facts and situations as they arise, not hypothetical questions.

Is it a fact that this man has property in this country and has the right to come into the country at present?

He has no right to come to reside in this country.
