Vol. 205 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - TV Reception in Cork.

84.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the poor TV reception in parts of Cork city and suburbs; and if he will indicate what steps are being taken to remedy the matter.

I am aware that television reception is not good in parts of Cork city and suburbs.

The provision of a satisfactory service in the area is the responsibility of the Broadcasting Authority. I understand that engineering officers from the Authority have been investigating the matter and that as a result ways and means of improving the position are at present under active consideration.

Is the Minister aware that these officers investigating have forecast a date a long way ahead on which we will see improvement? Could anything be done temporarily?

We are having a look at that also. I understand it will be six months before there will be an effective improvement.

Could the Minister do something at once?

They are having a look at that also.
