Vol. 206 No. 8

State Guarantees Act, 1954 (Amendment of Schedule) Order, 1963—Motion of Approval.

I move:

That Dáil Éireann approves the following Order in Draft:

State Guarantees Act, 1954 (Amendment of Schedule) Order, 1963

a copy of which Order in draft has been laid before the House.

As the Minister for Justice explained to the House on the Second Stage of the Funds of Suitors Bill, the aid proposed towards the rebuilding of the Cork Opera House is being made available in two ways, by a grant from the Funds of Suitors and by a guaranteed loan. I presume there was a full discussion on the Cork Opera House on that occasion and for that reason I do not think it is essential for me to give any great detail. The Funds of Suitors Bill has been passed by the Dáil and it has now gone on to the Seanad for discussion. The first is covered by the Funds of Suitors Bill which has already come before the House. It is proposed to provide the second by adding the Cork Opera House Company, Limited, to the bodies scheduled to the State Guarantees Act, 1954, with a maximum amount of £50,000 to be guaranteed and the draft order before you for approval will implement that intention.

We have already indicated our approval of this course.

Question put and agreed to.
