Vol. 216 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Rural Electrification.

4.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when the electricity supply will be extended to the residents of Slievreach, Ballyvourney and Direagh, Reinaree, Macroom, County Cork.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that all the places referred to are in the Board's Ballyvourney rural area which was initially developed under the Rural Electrification Scheme towards the end of 1958.

Re-canvass under the planned post-development scheme is scheduled to commence towards the end of 1966. All unsupplied householders in the area will be contacted during the re-canvass and the best possible terms for supply will be quoted to them. If they were to re-canvass this or any other area out of turn, the planned programme would be disrupted, with resultant increase in costs and less favourable terms of supply for the applicants.
