Vol. 216 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mallow Housing Needs.

6.

asked the Minister for Local Government what are the present total housing needs for Mallow, County Cork.

No assessment has yet been made of the overall housing need of Mallow. It is estimated by the housing authority that between 60 and 70 families are living in unfit dwellings or in overcrowded conditions.

Would the Minister ask Mallow Urban Council for an immediate housing survey of the town, which is very necessary according to complaints received by some of us?

In common with all other local authorities, we have asked about the matter on at least one or more occasions and we have been in touch with them recently. We understand that they will very soon carry out a full assessment of their needs.
