Vol. 220 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Statue.

31.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in relation to the statue of Christ the King by Andrew O'Connor whether the Office of Public Works allocated a site for it at Dún Laoghaire; if so, when and where; the functions of the Office of Public Works in relation thereto; and the amount of money expended by the Office in connection therewith.

In 1931 the Commissioners of Public Works offered a 99 year lease of a site at St. Michael's Wharf to the Committee for "Christ the King Monument". The offer was not taken up by the Committee. No expenditure was incurred by the Commissioners on the project.
