Vol. 222 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

5.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there are any proposals before him for a public sewerage scheme for Ramsgrange, County Wexford.

No proposals have been received in my Department for a public sewerage scheme for Ramsgrange.

So the Minister does not need the money for that one?

We do not need it yet, anyway.

6.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is satisfied in view of the further increased cost of providing water and sewerage services for the new convent school at Milford, County Donegal, that services will be provided in good time for the opening of this school.

A preliminary proposal for additional works in connection with the provision of services to the convent at Milford was received in my Department from Donegal County Council yesterday. This proposal will be examined when the relevant technical documents which, I understand, are being prepared by the county council, have been received. It is not possible to say what effect this proposal will have on the completion date for the scheme, until the documents in question have been received and examined.

7.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is proposed to proceed with the sewerage scheme for Kilmacrennan, County Donegal.

I understand that tenders for the proposed sewerage scheme for Carrigart, Cresslough and Kilmacrennan have been received and are being examined by Donegal County Council. I am not in a position to say when the scheme will be commenced.

8.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will take steps to expedite sanction of plans and estimate submitted by Tipperary (North Riding) County Council on 5th August 1965 for the extension of Portroe water supply in (1) Ballycarrido (2) Garrykennedy and (3) Cloneybrien.

Tipperary (NR) County Council's preliminary report, estimate and plans for extension of Portroe water supply scheme to serve these areas are at present under examination in my Department. I hope to convey a decision to the local authority shortly.

9.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the implementation of the sewerage scheme at Killenaule, County Tipperary; and what progress has been made since the last reply on this matter.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Ardfinnan, County Tipperary regional piped water supply scheme; what progress has been made since a previous reply on the matter; and when this scheme is likely to be completed.

11.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Dundrum, County Tipperary, regional piped water supply scheme; and when he expects this scheme to be completed.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Emly, County Tipperary, regional piped water supply scheme; what progress has been made since the last reply on this matter; and when he expects the scheme to be completed.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take the replies to Questions Nos. 9, 10, 11 and 12 together.

There has been no change in the position in relation to the Killenaule sewerage scheme since my reply of the 22nd March last.

The financing of the Ardfinnan, Dundrum and Emly regional water supply schemes is under examination in my Department in conjunction with the overall availability of capital for works of this kind during the coming year. It has not been possible to convey a decision on these schemes pending the outcome of this general examination, and I am not, therefore, in a position to say when the schemes are likely to be completed.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will list, in relation to current and proposed piped water and sewerage schemes in South Tipperary and West Waterford, the concrete action, such as provision of finance, sanctioning of loans, etc., which has been taken by his Department during the past four months on any of these schemes.

Applications from Tipperary (South Riding) County Council for loans to finance the undermentioned water and sewerage schemes are at present before my Department:

Water Supply Schemes.

Emly Regional Water Supply Scheme.

Clonmel Regional Water Supply Scheme.

Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply Scheme.

Dundrum Regional Water Supply Scheme.

Extension of Galtee Regional Water Supply to serve Lisronagh.

Direct Labour Water Extensions.

Cahir Water Supply Scheme.

Direct Labour Water Extensions— Knockgraffan Infill area.

Sewerage Schemes.

Jackson's Cross Sewer Extension.

The financing of these schemes is under examination in my Department in conjunction with the overall availability of capital for works of this kind during the present year. It has not, therefore, been possible to convey a decision on them pending the outcome of this general examination. Final contract drawings for the Clonmel and Cahir schemes, and also Grange-mockler/Nine-Mile House water supply scheme and Killenaule sewerage scheme are still under examination.

There are no proposals from Waterford County Council for water and sewerage schemes to serve West Waterford at present awaiting my sanction.
