Vol. 222 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballinamult (Waterford) Estate.

26.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the Farrell Estate, Dyrick, Ballinamult, County Waterford has been purchased; if the approval of the Land Commission is necessary for the purchase; and, if so, if they propose to investigate the matter before giving approval.

The Land Commission understand that the holding in question has been purchased locally; however, they have no precise details of the transaction and are unable to indicate whether or not their formal consent is required. If it is, the purchaser's solicitors will, no doubt, seek it as a matter of perfecting title. My information is that the holding is a comparatively small one of 35 acres with a rateable valuation of less than 2/- per acre. I might add that the Land Commission have already an area of 120 acres for disposal in this locality and resale proposals will be formulated as soon as possible.
