asked the Minister for Transport and Power the areas of South Tipperary and West Waterford which are still without electric current; and when these areas are likely to get current.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary-Waterford Electricity Supply.
I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that in all there are 36 rural areas in South Tipperary and West Waterford all of which have been initially developed under the Rural Electrification Scheme. Under the Post-Development Scheme 16 areas have been recanvassed. Construction work has been completed in 15 of these and is in progress in the remaining one. The following 20 areas have not yet been re-canvassed: Ballinure, Drangan, Mullinahone, Cloneen, Ballincor, Grangemockler, Dundrum, Golden, Glen of Aherlow, Ballyporeen, Burnport, Melleray, Ballyduff, Clashmore, Shandon, Ballymacarbery, Rathgormack, Kilrossanty, Clonoulty and Gortnahoo. It is expected that the Post-Development Scheme will be completed in about three years' time and that supply will have been extended to all applicants who have accepted terms in South Tipperary and West Waterford and in the remainder of the country.
