asked the Taoiseach the value of the pound in November in each of the years 1937, 1946, 1950, 1956, 1961 and 1966 in present day monetary values.

With your permission, Sir, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the estimated amounts which would be required at mid-February, 1967 to purchase the same quantum of goods and services at retail prices as would £1 at mid-November in the years specified.

Following is the statement:—

ESTIMATED amounts which would be required at mid-February, 1967 to purchase the same quantum of goods and services at retail prices as would £1 at mid-November in the years specified. The estimates are based on the retail price index numbers.
