Vol. 228 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Rehousing Proposals.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the rehousing of the residents of Collinstown Lane, County Dublin.

Following consultations between officers of my Department, Dublin County Council and the Department of Transport and Power, it was agreed that certain alternative proposals for the rehousing of these residents should be further investigated. The necessary enquiries are proceeding but, as they involve both technical and legal matters, they will take some time to complete. No action is being taken, in the meantime, to displace the tenants from their existing dwellings.

Could I urge the Minister, in view of the great inconvenience to which these people are being put, to expedite the building of these houses?

I will do that. In the meantime, they will not be disturbed.

Has the Minister handy a note of the date upon which I initiated the move to have these people rehoused by leading a deputation to the Department of the Minister for Transport and Power some two or three years ago?

The Deputy will have to address that question to the Minister for Transport and Power.
