Vol. 230 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Road Extension.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give sanction for the extension of the road from the Two Mile Bridge, Kenmare to the Killarney Road, County Kerry.

The proposal to which the Deputy refers is on a main road. The formulation of proposals for execution under the Road Fund grants available to them for work on main roads is a matter for Kerry County Council in the first instance. The council have submitted to my Department a list of nine schemes which they propose to carry out under the Tourist Road Grant of £55,000 allocated to them for the current financial year. The list includes a scheme for the "Kenmare Approaches" and I understand from the county council that this scheme is for continuation from Two Mile Bridge towards Killarney of the improvement work which has been going on on the Kenmare-Killarney road in recent years.

On receipt of details of the scheme which are, I understand, at present in course of preparation by the council, there will be no avoidable delay in my Department in the examination of the documents and in the issue of a decision thereon to the council.
