Vol. 231 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois School Transport.

10.

asked the Minister for Education the position regarding the provision of transport of children to Cullohill national school, Durrow, County Laois, where large numbers of children from the Oldtown area have no means of getting to the local school; if a transport grant will be made available to the school manager in this case; and why it was not made available when it was applied for some time ago.

Applications for the provision of national school transport services must be made in all cases by the School Manager concerned. There is nothing in my Department's records which would show that any such application has been made for a transport service to Cullohil national school to cater for the pupils residing in the Oldtown district. I am having investigations made with a view to ascertaining whether a school transport service would be warranted from that district.
