Vol. 232 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaming and Lotteries Act.

53.

asked the Minister for Justice if it is intended to amend the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956, as urged by the Associated Amusement Caterers Organisation.

The answer is "No".

Is there not a certain procedure in regard to the asking of supplementary questions? The Minister has read the replies to Questions Nos. 52 and 53 while I was asking for permission to ask a supplementary question in relation to Question No. 51 and furthermore other Deputies were talking while the Minister was reading out those replies. Is it not the job of the Chair to give Deuties an opportunity to ask a supplementary question? The Chair is straying from the regulations as they are laid down.

The Deputy asks questions but never listens to the answers. I have allowed five supplementaries.

It is the job of the Chair to see to it that Deputies from this side of the House will have justice and fair play in the asking of supplementary questions.

It is the duty of the Deputy to keep order and obey the Chair.
