Vol. 233 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Design of County Cork Houses.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he will be in a position to sanction a design for the erection of five houses for elderly people in the northern housing authority area of County Cork, which has been before his Department for approval for the past 12 months.

There are no proposals before my Department for the past 12 months from the Northern Division of Cork County Council in relation to the design of houses for elderly people. The council were informed in April, 1967, that the design submitted by them for four such houses in Doneraile was unsatisfactory and required revision. An alternative design for these houses has not been submitted to me since then. A design for old persons dwellings at Kanturk, which has been under examination by my Department's technical advisers, will be discussed shortly with the council's advisers. Following this discussion an early decision will be given by me on the council's proposals.
