Vol. 241 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Education of Nurses.

57.

asked the Minister for External Affairs why Ireland has not signed the European agreement on the instruction and education of nurses; whether it is proposed to sign it; and, if so, when.

The terms of the European agreement on the instruction and education of nurses are being considered in the Department of Health in consultation with the various nursing interests involved.

Can the Minister say whether it is anticipated that Ireland will sign the agreement and, if so, when and can the Minister say how far have the negotiations with the interested nursing bodies progressed?

The report is being considered in the Department of Health and I have no indication as to what the likely outcome will be.

The Deputy tried to stop our children getting the benefits of fluoridation.

The Deputy tried to get proper nursing and medical care and not the type of thing the Minister wanted.
