Vol. 242 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Treatment of Young Offenders.

21.

asked the Minister for Justice if it is envisaged that detention centres for the treatment of young offenders aged 17-21 will be set up by his Department.

St. Patrick's Institution, North Circular Road, Dublin, and an "open" institution at Shanganagh, County Dublin, which was established last year, cater for offenders in the 16 to 21 age group.

The provision of additional centres is not contemplated at present.
