There is no such proposal before my Department at present. Last September, however, I informed the housing authority that the cost of the 20 local authority houses in the scheme would be excessive on the basis of the tender which they proposed to accept and that I was not prepared to approve their proposal. They now intend to re-advertise the scheme. It is for the authority themselves to decide whether or not to accept the tender for the nine purchase-type houses. My approval to this would not be necessary.
