Vol. 244 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tax Yields.

56.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state on the basis of the information now available, the estimated net receipts in the year 1969-70 in respect of (a) income tax, (b) sur-tax, (c) corporation profits tax, (d) turnover tax and (e) wholesale tax.

On the basis of the returns to date, the yield from these taxes should exceed the figures published in the Budget. However, the rate of inflow of tax revenue in the final quarter of the financial year is normally subject to a considerable degree of fluctuation and in view of this I do not think that it would serve a useful purpose to attempt a precise estimate of the amount that each of the taxes concerned will yield up to 31st March 1970.
