Vol. 244 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Garda Incident.

21.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has received a submission with statements by nearly 30 persons about alleged intemperate and violent behaviour by the Garda towards citizens at Limerick outside the Shannon Arms Hotel on January 14th; and, if so, whether he intends to hold an inquiry, public or private, into the veracity or otherwise of the detailed charges made.

The investigation of the complaints in question is not yet completed.

Can the Minister say when he is likely to have a report on the inquiry?

The Deputy is under a misapprehension. The request was not made to me. It was made to the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána who, when he has finished his investigations will, no doubt, communicate with the person who made the private complaint.

No complaint was made to the Minister at all?
