Vol. 244 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Schools.

25.

asked the Minister for Education what plans he has (a) for relieving the present overcrowding in Glasheen national schools, County Cork, and (b) to cater for increased enrolments expected at these schools in the next two years, as they are situated in a rapidly expanding area.

At each of the existing boys' and girls' national schools at Glasheen it has been decided to provide additional classrooms and a general purposes room. The contract for the work has been placed and building operations will commence forthwith. The accommodation requirements were assessed in relation to present and future needs, and the enlarged schools will cater for the increased enrolments which will result from housing development in the area.
