Vol. 245 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nenagh Town Plan.

4.

asked the Minister for Local Government if his Department have as yet reached any decision on the amendment by Nenagh Urban District Council of its town plan to include the area of Benedine, Nenagh, as first stage development; and if, in the event of a decision having been reached, he will state the basis of the decision.

There are no proposals before me in this matter. The making of a variation in a development plan under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, is the responsibility of the planning authority. Such a variation is not subject to my approval. I understand that Nenagh Urban District Council passed a resolution last January to amend their development plan to include within the first stage development area some land in the area mentioned by the Deputy. If the council decide to proceed with the variation, it will be necessary for them to go through the procedure laid down in the 1963 Act as regards giving public notice of the proposed variation, notification to prescribed bodies, public display of the proposed variation and consideration of any objections or representations received.
