Vol. 245 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway School.

49.

asked the Minister for Finance when the work of providing an addition to Dunmore national school, County Galway, will commence.

The drawings and specification for the extension of this school are nearing completion and tenders for the work will be invited within the next few months.

Would the Minister not agree there was undue delay in providing this extension to Dunmore national school?

No. There was some small delay regarding ensuring that there would be an adequate water supply for it.

When will the work be carried out?

We hope to invite tenders in the next few months.

It was the parish priest who contacted me about this matter. Is the Minister aware of the dissatisfaction among the teachers in the school at the lack of room in the school at the moment due to the fact that the Office of Public Works have not carried out this work? There is undue delay here regardless of what the Parliamentary Secretary says. I am quite sure the Parliamentary Secretary is not even aware of the problem.

I certainly was not aware that the parish priest contacted the Deputy. A grant was sanctioned in January, 1969. The only delay in the matter was in regard to the provision of an adequate water supply.

The remaining questions will appear on tomorrow's Order Paper.
