Vol. 245 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Parking Meters.

57.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that motorists are being prosecuted in respect of an alleged offence of parking a vehicle in a parking place in which parking is subject to the payment of fees without paying the specified fee because some parking meters are out of order and unable at the appropriate time to accept a coin; if he will have this practice discontinued and ensure that all parking meters are maintained in working order; and, if not, why.

I am informed that there have been no prosecutions of motorists in the circumstances referred to in the question. Maintenance of parking meters is a matter for Dublin Corporation.
