asked the Minister for Justice the circumstances in which a member of the Oireachtas may visit a constituent in prison.

Visits to prisoners are allowed under the rules for the government of prisons, 1947.

A member of the Oireachtas, as such, has no special entitlement to visit a prisoner and can only do so by permission of the Minister for Justice.
