Vol. 247 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Architects' Fees.

4.

asked the Minister for Health the present level of fees for services by consultant architects employed on public construction work under the aegis of his Department.

The fees payable to architects engaged on hospital building works financed from State funds are those laid down in the scale of fees approved by me as Minister for Health. For works costing £2,000 or more the architect's fee is 6 per cent, less 2½ per cent of the cost of the engineering content of the work, or 1½ per cent of the total cost, whichever is the lesser, if an engineer is engaged. For works costing less than £2,000 the architect's fee varies from 7 per cent to 10 per cent according to the cost of the work, again subject to the deductions mentioned where an engineer is engaged.
