asked the Taoiseach the total value of imports to the Republic from Britain for the five-year period ended 30th June, 1970 and the percentage of total imports represented by this figure and (b) the total value of exports from the Republic to Britain during the same period and the percentage of total exports represented by such figure.

Data for the period ending 30th June, 1970 are not yet available but Irish imports from Great Britain in the five-year period ending 30th April, 1970, were valued at £1,099.7 million, i.e., 47.7 per cent of total Irish imports. Total exports to Britain in that period were valued at £852.0 million, i.e., 55.9 per cent of total exports.
